Tribute To Principal J Lloyd Whinstanley

It’s really sad to learn about the death of my high school principal Mr J Lloyd Whinstanley. The news of his death brought back so many memories of my high school days. I am humbled and grateful to have benefited from his excellent leadership. It’s hard to believe that twenty four years have passed so quickly since my high school graduation day. I can no longer reach out to my high school teachers for guidance, but I know that they gave me all the skills I needed to survive in this world. Today the world may seem like a scary place. Economies are collapsing, loved ones are dying, leaders of countries seem to have no answers to our modern problems. But armed with the skills that were nurtured in me from my high school and the confidence that was instilled in me by my teachers, I can move forward knowing that whatever challenges I face, my teachers from Herbert Morrison Technical High School under the leadership of Principal J Lloyd Whinstanley, have equipped me fully to be successful.

 Principal J Lloyd Whinstanley...even now my mind hasn’t really processed the news fully. It’s just one of those things you never think about. I can definitely say that as a principal, Mr Whinstanley definitely made a huge impact on my life during the time I was a student at Herbert Morrison Technical High School. The quality instruction I received from the academic and extracurricular programs he developed has given me so much confidence up to this day. Thank you Mr Whinstanley for your lifelong dedication to HMTHS, it’s staff and students.

Scamming In Montego Bay

Scamming is one of the complicated effects of All-inclusives taking business away from locals of Montego Bay. Some people choose to find alternative honest ways to earn a living. Unfortunately, many choose to earn their living by  dis-honest means like scamming. As with every other crime, those who engage are caught and punished. To those people who live in Montego Bay and do not engage directly in scamming, please dont think this is not your problem. As long as you were born in Montego bay, have family who live in Montego bay, it is OUR problem. Scamming is one of the leading  ways that money is being circulated in Montego Bay's economy right now. In the Cambios, Western Unions, Banks, stores and the list goes on...We can pretend that it is not a problem and try to ignore it, but if you are living or doing business in Montego bay, you are spending some of that money gained by scamming right now. Simply because it is being circulated in the economy. Chances are your neighbour, friend, cousin, local grocery store owner, cambio owner, politician, lawyer, doctor has been affected, knows someone who is involved, or has been involved themselves. It is our problem. It is your problem as well as mine.  Lets do something about it.  Do The Right Thing.

The IMF and World Bank should Cancel Jamaica’s debt

Can Jamaica just call for debt forgiveness from the IMF and World Bank due to the coronavirus? Since Coronavirus is being used to cancel debt worldwide why not use the opportunity now? I just see the IMG and Word Bank as a bunch of vultures/ vampires that prey on poor nations. They need to forgive the loans, wipe the slate clean and start over.

Why Am I Complaining If I Cant Do Something About Cornwall Regional Hospital

So after all this time, people still arguing about this post. It shows that this is like an old sore that won’t heal, but for over 30 years this sore can’t heal? Come on now. Of course I am not going to let this matter slide. I am going to address as many of the points brought up as possible. One of the main points brought up is “ Why am I complaining, why don’t I take that family member to the States, and contribute to fix the problem, and if I can’t do that I need to stop talking “. What about the money that my family member’s paid for over 40 years in taxes? That must be in the millions now. I am not going to stop complaining! I am the voice of those people who are not able to speak up for themselves! If we don’t highlight the issues, how will they be resolved! It would appear that if I can send a million dollars to address the problem I must not talk about it while my family members that work for over 40 years snd diligently pay their taxes without complaining cant even expect to receive medical care when they are sick. What provisions are being made to treat the sick while the renovations are taking place? Who is healthcare management team responsible for educating the public of these alternate medical facilities available for their care till the renovations are complete? Sorry I will not be keeping quiet anytime soon. Further more my family is so large it is not possible for me to take all of them to the United States. Also many elderly people who live all their life in Jamaica do not want to travel anywhere. Over the past few months I have received news from family, close friends and former classmates of loved ones who went to this place for treatment for and died because they did not receive the urgent medical care needed. No! I will not keep quiet. Those people telling me to be quiet fly their family to Miami or take their family to GWest or Hospiten which my family cannot afford. They don’t even use Jamaican public healthcare facilities. Angry blog coming next week! I am going to discuss many of the points brought up in the comments! If we don’t talk about it, how can we address it?

More Examples of how the British Curriculum Messed Up Caribbean Students I remember sitting in a Physics class trying to solve a Physics question. I got it wrong. When the teacher explained the answer, the teacher showed that to answer correctly, one had to take in consideration thermal insulation on windows. How was I supposed to know about Thermal insulation on a window when I was born in a hot tropical country, had never traveled outside of Jamaica in all my life, never seen snow, never experienced any temperature below Jamaican weather. Another example of British Curriculum forced on Tropical students which is not going to help them in anyway.
